The Democratic Alliance (DA) is leading in most of Gauteng's metros and municipalities, according to early results from the 2026 Local Government Elections.
With 12% of voting districts declared, the DA is ahead in all metros except the City of Tshwane, where ActionSA has taken an early lead.
In the City of Johannesburg, the DA is leading with 40% of the vote, followed by the African National Congress (ANC) at 17% and ActionSA at 15%.
A similar picture is emerging in Ekurhuleni, where the DA has secured 42% of the vote. ActionSA is in second place with 19%, while the ANC follows with 16%.
However, the race in Tshwane remains closely contested, with ActionSA narrowly ahead at 29%, followed by the ANC at 28%. The DA is currently in third position with 19%.
Despite the DA's strong early performance across much of the province, the results remain preliminary, with the majority of voting districts still to be declared.
