The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is urging voters to verify whether their special vote applications have been approved ahead of the two-day special voting period.
Special voting is scheduled to take place on Monday and Tuesday, between 8am and 5pm.
In KwaZulu-Natal, Provincial Electoral Officer Ntombfuthi Masinga says only voters whose applications have been approved will be allowed to cast their ballots.
She says eligible voters can vote at their designated voting stations or through home visits by election officials.
Masinga has also reminded voters that election campaigning is prohibited within voting station boundaries and that all ballots must be cast in secret.
She has warned voters against taking photographs of their ballot papers after voting, saying the practice is an electoral offence.
Masinga says election officials will instruct anyone attempting to photograph their ballot paper to delete the image.
Those who refuse to comply could face intervention from the South African Police Service (SAPS) members deployed at voting stations and may be arrested.
