Self-proclaimed pastor Caiphus Mkhawane and his two co-accused, Ntsako Makhubela and Amanda Mnguni, are expected to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.

The trio faces several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and fraud.

Mkhawane and Makhubela face additional charges of human trafficking, premeditated murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The case was previously postponed to allow Makhubela to undergo a mental assessment to determine whether she is fit to stand trial.

It is alleged that the accused took out several funeral policies in the name of the infant’s mother in August 2026.

According to the allegations, Mkhawane and Makhubela took the woman and her child to the Hennops River on October 7, under the pretext of performing religious rituals.

The woman was allegedly tied up and raped by Mkhawane, while her infant was allegedly killed by the co-accused.

The woman reportedly managed to escape and sought help from construction workers nearby, who assisted her in contacting the police.

The accused are expected to return to court as the matter continues.
