The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it will closely monitor the murder case of its Tshwane Region 2 Secretary, Monica Dube, who was shot and killed in front of her family in Wallmansthal, north of Pretoria, in June.
The two accused, Sipho Mahlangu and David Mogwabo, appeared in the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
The matter was postponed to Thursday to allow for Mahlangu’s bail application and for Mogwabo’s legal representative, who was absent from court on Monday, to be present.
EFF Member of Parliament Omphile Maotwe says the party is determined to ensure justice for Dube and her family.
Maotwe described the killing as devastating, saying Dube was murdered at her home in front of her children, who continue to experience trauma following the incident.
The party also commended the police Political Killings Task Team for its role in the investigation and the arrests of the accused.
Maotwe says the EFF will continue to follow the court proceedings closely, as it raises broader concerns about the high levels of crime in South Africa.
The case is expected to return to court on Thursday for further proceedings.
