The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms across parts of the northern and eastern regions of the country.
The warning affects the central to eastern parts of the North West, Gauteng, as well as the central to western parts of Limpopo.
SAWS is forecasting heavy downpours, strong and potentially damaging winds, and hail in the affected areas.
The severe weather could result in localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges. Localised damage to settlements and infrastructure is also possible in Gauteng, North West and Limpopo.
Meanwhile, a warning for damaging winds has been issued for Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City metropolitan municipalities, as well as the Ndlambe, Nqgushwa and Sundays River Valley local municipalities.
A fire danger warning has also been issued for Matzikama, Cederberg, Bergrivier and Kamiesberg municipalities.
