The body of another woman has been discovered in Ekurhuleni, bringing the number of women found dead in the area to 11.
The latest body was discovered over the weekend in an open veld near Rhokana Road.
Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili says a security company vehicle patrolling the area spotted the body and alerted police.
“All necessary role-players have been mobilised, including the Task Team investigating the Ekurhuleni murder cases, Crime Scene Management, Investigative Psychology Services, Detectives and Crime Intelligence,” Muridili said.
Police have not yet released the identity of the woman or details surrounding the circumstances of her death.
The discovery forms part of a series of cases involving women whose bodies have been found in different parts of Ekurhuleni in recent weeks.
Investigations are continuing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the latest death and determine whether it is linked to any of the other cases.
