Police have confirmed that most of the women whose bodies were discovered in the Kempton Park area had been sexually assaulted.

Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding each death and determine whether the cases are linked.

Acting National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili says most of the victims were found partially clothed, while two bodies were discovered completely naked.

Mosikili says forensic investigations have established that the majority of the victims had been sexually assaulted.

“Majority of them were found to be sexually assaulted,” Mosikili said.

One of the bodies was found in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult for forensic investigators to immediately determine whether that victim had also been sexually assaulted.

Police have yet to establish a motive for the killings.

Investigators are also working to determine whether any of the victims were mutilated.

The investigation into the deaths is continuing as police work to identify the remaining victims and establish whether the cases are connected.
