Lando Norris secured McLaren’s third consecutive Dutch Grand Prix victory on Sunday after a dramatic race that saw home favourite Max Verstappen crash on the opening lap.
The incident forced the race to be restarted, with Norris eventually fighting his way back to the front after Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli briefly took the lead following the restart.
Antonelli finished second to extend his advantage in the Formula One championship standings. His Mercedes teammate George Russell completed the podium in third after following team orders to allow Antonelli, who was on fresher tyres, through late in the race.
Russell then held off Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton to secure third place.
The victory was Norris’ second consecutive win after his triumph in Hungary last month. It also marked his second Dutch Grand Prix victory, having previously won at Zandvoort in 2024.
Norris started from pole position and became the latest driver to win at Zandvoort from the front of the grid. Every Dutch Grand Prix held at the circuit since its return to the Formula One calendar in 2021 has been won by the pole-sitter.
After the race, Norris urged McLaren to continue developing the car as the championship battle intensifies.
Antonelli’s second-place finish increased his championship lead to 59 points. The 19-year-old Italian now has 242 points, while Russell and Hamilton are tied on 183.
Russell said he accepted the team’s decision to allow Antonelli through, adding that the younger driver would likely have overtaken him anyway because of his fresher tyres.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished fifth, ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in sixth.
Liam Lawson, standing in for the injured Isack Hadjar, finished seventh for Red Bull, while Nico Hulkenberg claimed eighth for Audi.
Fernando Alonso brought Aston Martin into the points with ninth place, while Pierre Gasly completed the top 10 for Alpine.
