Fourteen illegal miners have been found dead at an abandoned mine shaft in Marikana, North West.
The bodies were discovered near the Nkaneng Informal Settlement on Monday morning.
Several other illegal miners were reportedly injured in the incident. The circumstances surrounding the deaths and injuries have not yet been confirmed.
The North West Provincial Police Commissioner is said to be travelling to the scene as authorities begin investigations.
