A school pupil has died following a physical altercation at a high school in Isithebe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday morning.
IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the school after receiving reports that a boy had been struck on the head during a fight with another pupil and was left unconscious.
Paramedics arrived at the scene but, sadly, found that the pupil had succumbed to his injuries. He was declared dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the altercation and the events leading to the pupil’s death remain unclear.
The scene was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS), which is expected to investigate the incident further.
The identity of the deceased pupil has not yet been released.
Condolences have been extended to the pupil’s family, friends and school community following the tragic incident.
