The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party says it intends opening a case of perjury against the Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, and former National Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Shamila Batohi.
The announcement was made during Thursday's sitting of the Ad Hoc Committee.
Johnson and Batohi appeared before the committee as witnesses last year.
The development comes after African National Congress (ANC) MP Xola Nqola told the committee that Johnson, who is currently testifying before the Madlanga Commission, had admitted to misleading the Ad Hoc Committee during her previous testimony.
Addressing the committee during deliberations on its draft report, Nqola said Johnson had conceded, while giving evidence before the commission, that information she previously presented to the committee was misleading.
He said the testimony currently being heard by the Madlanga Commission includes the same statement and issues that were raised before the Ad Hoc Committee, where Johnson allegedly acknowledged that she had misled members.
The MK Party said Johnson's admission has prompted its decision to pursue perjury charges against both her and Batohi.
No further details have been provided on when the case will be formally lodged.
