The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has rescheduled the testimony of alleged cartel member Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala to 15 July, following the postponement of his anticipated appearance this week.

The commission has also instructed Matlala to submit his witness statement by Wednesday ahead of his scheduled testimony.

Matlala had initially been expected to appear before the commission on Tuesday. However, the hearing was postponed amid heightened public and media interest surrounding his expected evidence.

During proceedings on Tuesday, Matlala appeared before the commission virtually, while his legal representatives attended in person.

The commission is investigating allegations of corruption and misconduct within South Africa's criminal justice system, and Matlala's testimony is expected to form part of its ongoing inquiry.
