The City of Tshwane says significant progress is being made in restoring its water distribution network following the completion of Rand Water’s planned maintenance programme.
The maintenance work, which affected several municipalities across Gauteng, led to disruptions in water supply and reduced pressure in a number of areas.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashego said water levels across the metro are steadily improving as the system continues to stabilise.
According to Mashego, Rand Water has confirmed that the Palmiet System is currently operating at 89% pumping capacity, contributing to the gradual recovery of reservoir and storage levels throughout the city.
"Rand Water has confirmed that the Palmiet System is currently pumping at 89% capacity as it continues to stabilise. This is contributing to the gradual improvement of storage levels across the city," he said.
Despite the progress, some communities in Region One, including Mabopane, Soshanguve L and Kreisfontein, may continue to experience low water pressure while recovery efforts remain underway.
Mashego said intervention measures remain in place to support affected areas and ensure that water continues to be distributed throughout the network as reservoirs recover.
The City has urged residents to use water sparingly while the system fully stabilises and assured communities that technicians are closely monitoring the recovery process.
Municipal officials expect water supply conditions to continue improving as pumping capacity increases and storage levels return to normal.
