Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested two suspects aged 29 and 35 in connection with kidnapping and extortion cases linked to the Pinetown policing precinct.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday during a coordinated operation carried out in Clermont and Malvern.
The operation was conducted by members of the Pinetown Trio Task Team and the KwaDabeka Field Unit, following up on intelligence received from Crime Intelligence regarding suspects wanted for a series of kidnapping and extortion incidents.
Police said the first suspect was arrested in Clermont, while the second was apprehended in Malvern later that evening.
Authorities also recovered two vehicles and a replica firearm allegedly linked to the commission of the crimes during the second arrest.
The two men have been charged with kidnapping and extortion and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 28 May 2025.
