Toyota South Africa Motors has recalled 146 Hino 300 Series trucks sold across South Africa between March and October last year.
The recall affects several models, including the Hino XZU600R and Hino XZU730R.
According to the National Consumer Commission, an incorrect component may have been fitted to the combination meter circuit board during manufacturing.
The defect could result in overheating and may cause the speedometer or odometer to malfunction, potentially creating unsafe driving conditions for motorists.
Owners of affected vehicles have been urged to take their trucks to the nearest authorised Toyota dealership for free inspections and repairs.
The commission says it will continue monitoring the recall process to ensure compliance with the Consumer Protection Act.
