Rand Water will begin major maintenance work on the Johannesburg water network from Friday as part of efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of the system.
The maintenance programme will continue until 2 June, with a second phase scheduled to start on 17 July.
Residents in several areas, including Sandton, Midrand, Soweto and Randburg, may experience low water pressure or intermittent water supply during the maintenance period.
Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said the work forms part of the utility’s annual mid-year maintenance cycle, which is typically carried out during the winter months.
The utility says the planned maintenance is aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving operational efficiency and reducing the risk of unplanned outages in the future.
