Wednesday marks two years since the devastating collapse of a building on Victoria Street in George, a tragedy that claimed 34 lives and left 28 people injured.

The five-storey structure came down suddenly, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting widespread questions about construction safety and regulatory oversight.

Although two years have passed since the disaster, the emotional toll remains deeply felt by families who lost loved ones, with many still seeking answers and closure.

The incident has become a lasting reminder of how quickly lives can be altered by structural failures, as well as the importance of accountability in ensuring such tragedies are prevented in future.

Political party GOOD Party has renewed calls for clarity on the legal process, urging the National Prosecuting Authority to provide an update on the status of the case and outline the next steps.

As commemorations continue, pressure is mounting for progress in ensuring those responsible are held to account.
