A large fire has swept through an informal settlement, destroying an estimated 150 shacks, with officials warning the final number could be higher due to the dense layout of the area.
Emergency services responded to the scene on Thursday as flames rapidly spread through the settlement, forcing residents to flee and gather along nearby roads for safety.
The M19 was heavily congested as displaced residents occupied parts of the roadway, causing major traffic disruptions. Members of the public assisted by urging motorists to keep moving to allow emergency vehicles access to the affected area.
Firefighters continue to work to bring the blaze under control, with authorities monitoring the situation closely.
At this stage, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
