Proceedings at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry are set to continue on Thursday morning, with a new witness expected to take the stand.
This follows the conclusion of testimony by suspended Sedibeng South African Police Service District Commissioner, Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu, on Wednesday.
Nkhwashu has been accused of attempting to interfere in a murder investigation involving Katiso Molefe, also known as “KT”, who is his brother-in-law. Molefe was arrested in connection with the April 2024 murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart.
During his testimony, Nkhwashu addressed claims that Molefe had denied their familial relationship. He told the Commission that he does not believe Molefe’s version, describing him as dishonest and stating that he would rather rely on information provided by officials.
Nkhwashu also extended an apology to Swart’s family, adding that if Molefe is found to have been involved in the killing, justice must take its course.
The Commission continues its inquiry into allegations of interference and misconduct linked to the case.
