Several political and civic organisations are expected to take to the streets of Durban on Wednesday as part of a planned demonstration calling for stricter enforcement against undocumented foreign nationals.
The organisers say the march is aimed at pressuring authorities to strengthen immigration control, border management and regulatory oversight, which they describe as ongoing systemic weaknesses.
Movement leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma of the March and March group said the protest seeks to amplify public demands for more decisive government action on undocumented migration, arguing that existing measures are not sufficient.
She said the mobilisation reflects growing public frustration over what participants view as the impact of weak immigration enforcement on local communities.
Supporters of the march include members and leaders of the ActionSA, the Inkatha Freedom Party, and the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.
ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba, who is taking part in the protest, called for stricter enforcement of immigration laws and more aggressive deportation processes for undocumented migrants.
He said authorities should prioritise enforcement measures aimed at removing individuals living in the country without legal documentation, arguing that economic hardship among citizens underscores the need for tighter controls.
Mashaba added that government action should include large-scale deportations, saying such steps would address what he described as widespread illegal immigration affecting communities nationwide.
