The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that a student received more than R630,000.
The scheme said the image accompanying the post appears to have been manipulated and does not correspond with its official payment records. NSFAS emphasised that it does not make large lump-sum payments directly to students. Instead, funds are transferred to educational institutions, which then distribute allowances according to established funding rules.
NSFAS confirmed it is reviewing the matter and urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information.
