The ongoing crisis in the Middle East has caused further travel disruptions after a drone-related incident forced the temporary suspension of operations at Dubai International Airport.
Authorities confirmed that a drone strike sparked a fire at one of the airport’s fuel storage tanks, prompting emergency measures and the halt of airport activities.
The Dubai Media Office, which serves as the public relations arm of the Dubai government, confirmed that the fire occurred in the vicinity of the airport and affected a fuel tank.
Emergency teams from the city’s civil defence services responded to the scene and successfully brought the blaze under control. Officials reported that no injuries were recorded.
Following the incident, Dubai’s national carrier Emirates announced the suspension of all flights to and from Dubai until further notice.
The disruption has further complicated efforts to restore normal operations in the city’s aviation sector amid the broader regional crisis, which began on 28 February.
