A group of South Africans stranded in Kuwait have begun their journey back home, with assistance from South African embassies in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

A total of 116 citizens are being assisted to return safely, with the first group of 30 travelling by road to Riyadh. From there, they will board an Ethiopian Airlines flight back to South Africa.

Authorities say the coordinated effort aims to ensure the safe and orderly repatriation of all affected nationals.
