The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry witnessed heightened tensions as North-West businessman Suliman Carrim’s lawyer, Kameel Premhid, clashed with the commission secretary over seating arrangements on Day 73 of proceedings.
The commission resumed after ruling against Carrim’s application to testify in camera. His legal team had argued that he faced death threats, but evidence leader Adila Hassim contended that there was no direct link between the alleged threats and Carrim’s appearance before the commission.
Commissioner Mbuyiseli Madlanga addressed the dispute during the session, highlighting the need for order amid the heated exchange.
The commission continues to hear testimony and evidence related to its inquiry.
