The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned residents in Gauteng to expect cloudy conditions with widespread showers and thundershowers on Friday, 6 March 2026, with an 80% chance of rain across the province.
SAWS senior forecaster Tokelo Chiloane said the wet conditions are expected to continue into the weekend, though the likelihood of rain will drop to around 60% on Saturday and Sunday.
“This weather is expected to continue through Saturday and Sunday; however, we will only have under 60% chances of showers and thundershowers over the weekend. Temperatures today are expected to reach a maximum of 20°C, with Johannesburg and Pretoria seeing highs of 21°C,” Chiloane said.
