Israel launched fresh attacks on Lebanon and Iran, with explosions reported across Tehran and air raid sirens sounding in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Iranian strikes on Israel triggered the alerts, with some projectiles intercepted before impact.
The wider region is also experiencing escalating attacks. Explosions were reported in Qatar and Bahrain, while six people were injured by falling debris in Abu Dhabi. Azerbaijan reported strikes by two Iranian drones, and Iran claimed to have hit a US ship in the northern Gulf, damaging a tanker.
Meanwhile, the first UK government-organised flight to evacuate citizens from the region was delayed due to a technical issue. The flight, scheduled to depart from Oman on Wednesday evening, will now leave on Thursday. One passenger described the delay to the BBC as a “total farce.”
In the US, Congress voted down a measure that would have restricted Donald Trump’s ability to order further military action in Iran.
In northern Iraq, Kurdish Iranian forces denied entering Iran, citing ongoing airstrikes as preventing movement. “We cannot move if the air above us is not cleaned,” they told the BBC.
