Police in KwaZulu-Natal have uncovered an illicit drug laboratory in Umhlathuzana, near Chatsworth, as part of an ongoing operation targeting a suspected drug syndicate in the area.
Four suspects were arrested at the site during the raid.
The operation forms part of a broader crackdown led by eThekwini Metro Police, South African Police Service Crime Intelligence and Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, commonly known as the Hawks.
Authorities said the alleged cartel has been under investigation since 2023, with intelligence-driven operations now being executed across multiple locations.
Law enforcement teams are currently conducting coordinated raids in Chatsworth and at least 10 other sites believed to be linked to the network.
Police say further arrests and seizures are expected as the operation continues, signalling an intensified effort to dismantle drug operations in the region.
