Operations at Cape Town International Airport have returned to normal after a fire briefly disrupted flights and airport services on Tuesday.
The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) confirmed that power has been fully restored and all systems are back online following the incident, which led to temporary flight suspensions and delays.
ACSA spokesperson Ofentse Dijoe said the fire broke out in the international inner lane on the landside of the airport. Emergency teams responded swiftly and extinguished the blaze shortly after it started.
Passengers and staff were evacuated as a precaution, with no injuries reported. Several incoming international flights were diverted to alternative airports while the situation was brought under control.
The fire also disrupted network connectivity and IT services, including airport Wi-Fi and other critical operational systems.
Airport management says services have since stabilised, and normal operations have resumed with travellers advised to check with their airlines for any residual schedule changes.
