A fire that disrupted operations at Cape Town International Airport has been successfully contained, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The blaze broke out in an office building and a VIP lounge within the airport precinct, prompting emergency teams to respond swiftly to prevent the flames from spreading.
Several flights were delayed as a result of the incident, while passengers and staff were temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Some travellers took to social media to report brief power and internet outages inside the terminal during the incident, adding to the disruption.
