Swiss singer Manon Bannerman, 23, is taking a temporary hiatus from Katseye to focus on her health and wellbeing, the group confirmed on Friday.

Bannerman reassured fans that she is “healthy” and “taking care of myself,” adding: “Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture.” She thanked supporters on the group’s WeVerse page: “Thank you for standing by me. I love you endlessly and can’t wait to see you again.”

The six-member girl group, formed in 2023 during the reality series The Debut: Dream Academy, made the decision after “open and thoughtful conversations together,” according to a joint statement shared by their label, HYBE and Geffen Records. “We fully support this decision. Katseye remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us,” the statement read.

Katseye confirmed they will continue with scheduled performances during Bannerman’s absence and “look forward to being together again when the time is right.” No timeline has been provided for her return. The group also includes Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung.

The announcement comes weeks after Katseye performed at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, where they were nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song Gabriela.

Bannerman’s hiatus highlights the pressures the group has faced since their rapid global rise. In 2025, members revealed receiving thousands of death threats online. Lara Raj described the experience as “so dystopian,” while Bannerman called it “very terrorising on the mind.”

Katseye, who released their debut single Debut in June 2024, has since put out two EPs—SIS (Soft is Strong) and Beautiful Chaos alongside a string of singles, cementing their place on the international pop stage.
