Seven people, including a child, have died in a tragic multi-vehicle collision near Bhisho in the Eastern Cape. The provincial transport department reported that a bakkie carrying six passengers collided with a car on the N2 before crashing into another bakkie.
According to Unathi Binqose of the Eastern Cape Department of Transport, five people died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
“As the Eastern Cape Department of Transport, we're deeply saddened by this tragic accident that has claimed seven lives. We are calling on all road users to be extra cautious and vigilant on our roads at all times,” Binqose said.
Authorities have opened a case of culpable homicide, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
