One of the two young men accused of the murder of 19-year-old Lusanda Mathabela is expected to return to the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Friday as legal proceedings continue.
Lungelo Sithole, alongside co-accused Katlego Mokoena, allegedly stabbed Mathabela to death at her home in Mattafin near Mbombela last year. The pair has remained behind bars since their arrest shortly after the incident.
During their previous court appearance, Sithole indicated that he intends to plead not guilty to the charges. His formal bail application is set to continue on Friday.
The case has drawn significant attention in the community, with residents calling for justice for the teenager. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mathabela’s death are ongoing.
