Themba Mathibe, CEO of the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) and also head of the Johannesburg Development Agency, has been released on R50,000 bail following his arrest on money laundering charges.
Mathibe appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court after being taken into custody by SAPS on Monday, following a raid at the JOSHCO offices. He was later apprehended at his residence, where police allege he was found in possession of a large sum of cash.
He has been released under standard bail conditions and is scheduled to return to court on 6 February for the next hearing.
