A wildlife lover has shared a magical moment with nature after a friendly robin chose her as an unexpected perch during a visit to a Yorkshire park.

Photographer Fay Wadsworth from Sheffield was visiting Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster last Monday when the tiny bird fluttered over and settled comfortably on top of her camera, close to the warmth of her jacket.

“I was blessed by this very friendly — and presumably cold — robin,” the 31-year-old said. Wadsworth had been standing near the Amur leopard enclosure, hoping to photograph the park’s new cubs, when she heard the sound of wings behind her.

“It was a little robin that sat on my camera… and it decided my hair was the perfect nesting spot,” she laughed.

At first, Wadsworth thought the bird might have accidentally flown into her and become tangled in her hair. She gently freed its legs and opened her hand, expecting it to take off immediately.

“But he didn’t…he stayed,” she said.

Unsure what to do next, Wadsworth consulted nearby rangers, who advised her to remain close to the woodland area while the robin rested with her. After a short while, the bird eventually flew into a nearby tree, where it began to sing.

The touching encounter has since brought smiles to many, serving as a gentle reminder of the simple joys nature can offer sometimes when you least expect them.
