Two people have been shot dead outside the Booysens Magistrate’s Court in Oakdene South, Johannesburg, on Tuesday.
Three other individuals were injured in the incident and have been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear and police have not yet released further details on possible suspects or a motive.
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Andries Nel, is expected to visit the scene as investigations continue.
Authorities are urging members of the public to remain calm while police work to establish what led to the deadly attack.
