President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to visit flood-affected areas of Limpopo on Thursday afternoon to assess the extent of the devastation and evaluate the government’s response to the ongoing disaster.
In a statement, the Presidency said the President’s thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured, and individuals, businesses and organisations who have suffered property damage.
The Presidency added that media access during the visit will be limited due to the poor condition of roads in the affected areas and ongoing rescue operations.
Despite the restrictions, the Presidency said it will make every effort to collect visual material from the visit and distribute it to media houses.
The visit comes as emergency services continue rescue and recovery efforts in parts of the province following severe flooding that has left communities reeling.
