A 51-year-old taxi owner was shot and killed early Friday morning at the corner of Python Road and Pricklepear Road in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene just before 7am, where they found Verulam SAPS already in attendance. According to witnesses, the victim had been waiting on the roadside when two unidentified gunmen approached him on foot and opened fire.
The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the face, head, shoulders and back. Several 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene.
The motive for the killing has not yet been established. While initial reports suggest the attackers fled on foot, police have not confirmed this.
