Two people were injured on Monday morning when a truck overturned on the M25 near KwaMashu in KwaZulu-Natal. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) says its Phoenix Operations Centre received multiple calls from motorists reporting the crash.

Responders arrived to find a white FAW four-ton truck lying on its side. The vehicle had been carrying crushed aluminium cans.

The driver sustained minor injuries to his right hand, while the passenger, though unharmed, was trapped inside the cab. eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services extricated him safely shortly after arriving on the scene.

According to RUSA, the truck was travelling toward a scrap metal dealer in Phoenix when the driver lost control while navigating the bend leading from the N2 onto the M25 KwaMashu off-ramp.

The injured driver was taken to a nearby hospital by a private ambulance for further treatment. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
