President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised South Africa’s leadership of the G20, saying the presidency has reinforced the country’s position on the international stage.
In his weekly newsletter, Ramaphosa said South Africa worked to ensure that Africa’s development and economic growth featured prominently on the G20 agenda. He added that the country had secured key commitments from global partners, including support to address rising debt levels across the continent.
Ramaphosa noted that G20 leaders also backed increased international investment for climate action a move he says aligns with South Africa’s drive toward a fair and inclusive energy transition.
Describing it as a “People’s G20,” the president thanked South Africans for embodying the spirit of Ubuntu throughout the country’s term at the helm.
