A seven-year-old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle on the R102 between Ballito and Shakashead in KwaZulu-Natal.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue, paramedics responded to reports of a pedestrian crash earlier today. On arrival, they found that a group of children had been attempting to cross the busy roadway when the young boy was hit.
Despite efforts to assist, the child had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Emergency services have extended their condolences to the child’s family and friends, urging motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution on the province’s roads.
