Former Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba says he will cooperate fully with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) as he appears in court on Friday over alleged procurement irregularities at Transnet SOC Limited.

The NPA confirmed that formal charges have been brought against Gigaba following investigations into multi-billion-rand locomotive contracts at the state-owned freight company.

Gigaba, who was implicated during the State Capture Commission of Inquiry, has maintained that his involvement in the procurement process was non-executive and conducted in accordance with due process.

In a statement, the former minister expressed confidence in South Africa’s judicial system, saying he remains committed to upholding the rule of law as legal proceedings unfold.
