Firefighters spent several hours battling a blaze at a residential property on Glen Road on Monday morning.
According to eThekwini Fire Division’s Craig Peters, the fire had already reached the roof of the house when crews arrived at the scene. A vehicle on the property was also engulfed in flames.
“Our first team moved in to tackle the fire from two sides of the property,” said Peters. “We deployed an additional team and discovered several gas cylinders on site — a few had already exploded.”
Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries were reported. Peters confirmed that the property appeared to house multiple families.
“There’s an upper and lower section to the building. According to the owner, all occupants were safely evacuated. We verified this after conducting a secondary search once the fire was brought under control,” he added.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
