Nineteen-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi, who was kidnapped in Bloemfontein earlier this month, has been found alive in Wepener, Free State.
Baukudi, a Grade 11 learner at Martie du Plessis Special School, was abducted on 5 June while being driven home from school.
According to police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele, Baukudi was rescued in the early hours of Friday following an intensive investigation. Five men, aged between 20 and 29, were arrested during the operation, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to six.
All six are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police have praised the swift action of law enforcement teams and say investigations into the motive behind the kidnapping are continuing.
