Authorities have made yet another significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in Durban.
On Thursday, members of the Hawks, in collaboration with eThekwini Metro Police, uncovered a clandestine drug laboratory near Morningside. A suspect was arrested at the scene.
Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo confirmed the raid, stating, “Our members, working with metro police, seized various drugs including cocaine and ecstasy, with an estimated street value of R350,000.”
This latest bust comes just a day after a foreign national was apprehended in Quarry Heights, north of Durban, in possession of drugs valued at more than R10 million. He was caught red-handed during an intelligence-driven operation.
Police say the two incidents form part of an intensified clampdown on drug syndicates operating in the province. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
