A horrific hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a pedestrian on Saturday night along the northbound lane of the N2 near Blackburn, KwaZulu-Natal.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) confirmed that its Phoenix Operations Centre received a distress call from a motorist at approximately 23:18, reporting a severely disfigured body on the road.

RUSA officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the decapitated body of a male pedestrian lying in the emergency lane. According to responders, human remains were scattered across a stretch of nearly 100 metres. Despite an extensive search, the victim’s head could not be located.

Authorities say it remains unclear whether the man was struck by a single vehicle or multiple passing motorists.

In a puzzling detail, a pair of neatly folded navy trousers was found draped over a roadside metal barrier, untouched by the violent nature of the incident.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, and police are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact local law enforcement.
