Authorities have announced the immediate closure of the Stapleton Bridge, which connects Sarnia and the King Cetshwayo Highway (M13) into Pinetown and New Germany, due to concerns over structural instability and signs of potential collapse.
Motorists are strongly advised not to attempt to cross the bridge under any circumstances, as it poses a serious safety risk.
Site Management for the Stapleton Bridge Project has urged drivers to make use of the following alternative routes:
- Main Road (Underwood Road)
- M7 (Edwin Swales Drive) via Bellair
Drivers are asked to remain vigilant, adhere to posted detour signs, and exercise caution in the affected areas. Officials will provide further updates as inspection and repair work continues.
