Moira Harding, the 54-year-old runner who went missing after completing the Comrades Marathon on Sunday, has been found in a critical condition near the NSRI base on Mahatma Gandhi Road (formerly Point Road) in Durban.

Harding, a resident of Cape Town, was last seen by her family around 5 p.m. on Sunday after crossing the finish line at Moses Mabhida People’s Park. Her unexplained disappearance prompted an urgent ground search and a widespread social media campaign by her family, appealing for public assistance.

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, confirmed that emergency services closed off the road on Monday morning to allow a helicopter to airlift Harding to a nearby hospital.

“Search and rescue teams successfully located the runner, who is in a critical state of health,” said Jamieson. “Advanced Life Support paramedics are currently stabilising her on the scene before she is transported for the urgent medical care she needs.”

The circumstances surrounding Harding’s disappearance remain unclear, and authorities have not yet provided further details.
