A search operation is underway in Bloemfontein following the abduction of a Grade 11 pupil, allegedly by individuals posing as police officers.
Kamogelo Baukudi was reportedly on his way home with his guardian on Thursday when they were stopped by the suspects along Vereeniging Drive. The individuals, believed to be impersonating law enforcement, then allegedly abducted the teenager.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and comes at a particularly poignant time, as South Africa observes Child Protection Month — a period aimed at raising awareness of children’s safety and rights.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive behind the kidnapping, but a manhunt has been launched and police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in locating the missing learner.
The case adds to growing concern over the rising number of missing children in the country, highlighting the urgent need for stronger protective measures and public vigilance.
