The first phase of Rand Water’s large-scale infrastructure maintenance project is expected to be completed by Monday, bringing some relief to areas in Gauteng that have experienced water supply disruptions since last week.

The bulk water supplier began servicing its systems last Thursday, initiating essential maintenance work that is anticipated to continue through July. The project forms part of Rand Water’s long-term efforts to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency.

While the maintenance has caused intermittent supply interruptions across various parts of the province, Rand Water has assured residents that contingency measures are in place. Water tankers have been deployed to the most severely affected communities to alleviate the impact.

The utility has appealed to residents to use water sparingly during this period, and reiterated that the work is critical to ensuring a more stable and sustainable water supply in the future.
