A crash involving two vehicles caused a full closure of the N3 near Spaghetti Junction on Thursday morning, leaving three people injured and creating significant traffic delays.
One of the vehicles overturned during the collision, bringing traffic to a standstill on the busy route toward Durban. Emergency services were initially unable to access the scene due to severe congestion.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said responders had to take unconventional measures to reach the injured. “Paramedics faced challenges reaching the scene and had to go contraflow from the Sherwood off-ramp to gain access,” he explained.
The affected vehicles were later moved to the roadside, allowing traffic to begin flowing again. The injured were treated on the scene before being transported to nearby medical facilities. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
